Engineer

Mike Gibbons, PE

A co-founding member of Energy America, Gibbons began working in the oil & gas industry to help pay for his education while attending college. Gibbons has just over 40 years of upstream experience, beginning as a rig hand/roustabout, management roles overseeing business operations.

Prior to forming Energy America, Gibbons most recently served as Vice President of Production for the upstream division of Energy Resources LLC of Indianapolis based CountryMark from May 2010 to November 2018. Prior to 2010, he worked as Engineering Manager for Houston, Texas based Noble Energy, Inc and predecessors Patina Oil & Gas, Elysium Energy LLC and Equinox Oil company for a

combined 9 plus years. During the great oil price downturn years spanning most of the 1980’s and 1990’s, he worked for Evansville, Indiana based Moore Engineering & Production Company, Inc. for 9 years performing production engineering, waterflood management and acting as a consultant to other operators. He worked 6 years for MW Resources, a streamlined operating and consulting firm aggressively evaluating, purchasing, and developing oil properties for clients. His career as an engineer began in January 1983 working for Gary-Williams Production Company (i.e. formerly Gary Energy) located in Englewood, Colorado as a drilling, completion and production engineer.

Gibbons has a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences with Chemistry minor from Illinois State University and is a Registered Professional Engineer. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, having served as Illinois Basin Chapter President in the 1990’s. He currently serves on the Illinois Oil & Gas Association (IOGA) Executive Committee and, recently served several years on the Board of Kentucky Oil & Gas Association (KOGA).
